Parés Baltá´"Brut Cava" Pendes, Catalonia, Spain´$18

"Did you know in Catalonia and much of Spain actually Cava is an everyday wine? In fact made to specifically compliment everything from heavy meats to seafood! After tasting the Parés Baltá Cava I gained a new understanding of how a wine can be both an everyday drinker and special at the same time. Clean, refreshing, and bursting with minerality, there is still a lovely balance of orchard fruit. This family has been making wine for 230 years, and the experience shows. Eric Sage ‘Grand Large la Vendée’, La Vendée, Loire Valley, France 2018  -  $23

Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Grolleau Gris


"Loire Valley is incredibly rich with variety; in wine style, grape varietals, and soil, not to mention sheer geographic size. Fiefs Vendéens is definitely one of the lesser known areas, just south of Muscadet, near the coast. This blend has the perfect balance of body from Chenin and Chard, with crisp freshness from the Grolleau Gris. Not a full bodied wine, nor oaky or buttery. Just fresh, succulent seaside wine"  - Matthew 2/20


Sumenjak, Regija, Slovenia 2017 - $26

Pinot Grigio

"The little birds on the label are cute, but the first thing I'll tell you to do is forget the birds. This is a serious wine. And seriously delicious. A 'ramato' style Pinot Grigio, so it has a short bit of skin-contact (like an orange wine) that gives it vibrant color and, more importantly, great texture and aromas. When drinking this wine, it comes of much closer to those legendary winemakers who hover on the Italian/Slovenian border (and are priced for deep wallets) than the more whimsical wines this label may suggest. Which is why I said, forget the birds."- Karl 2/13

Kramar Rebula, Goriška Brda, Slovenia 2017 - $32


"There are certain wines in the shop that would be flying off of the shelf if they were more well known. The Rebula (Ribolla Gialla) from Kramar is one such wine. It's an orange wine, yes, but not one I would describe as funky. Instead, it's brimming with concentrated, heady apricot and nectarine fruits, but anchored by Ribolla Gialla's characteristic earthiness, along with aromatic herbs and flowers that are not overpowering. The acid is in balance, making it great for food (think pork). "  -  Matthew 2/19



Domaine Masson-Blondelet 'Les Angelots' Pouilley-Fumé, Loire Valley, France 2017 

Sauvignon Blanc  -  $30 

"An epitome of elegance. The sister and brother team of Michelle and Jean-Michel Bisson are: a) absolutely lovely people & b) a quiet force in the eastern Loire. Their wines are exceptional. Their passion for local history is intense. Their knowledge of the land (in a balance of ecology sense) is deep. And their winemaking is pure, honest & precise. Theirs are natural wines, with minimal intervention all along the way, but they are also 100% clean and always perfectly balanced wines. Sancerre's got nothing on Pouilley-Fumé, except perhaps a nicer view." - Karl 7/20

Sidonia de Sousa 'Brut Nature Branco', Beiras, Portugal - $18

Bical, Maria Gomes & Arinto

"We have had a number of wines from Sidonio de Sousa in the shop - all really good, but this one gets a special nod because it is such a tremendous wine for the price. Forget the unusual grape varieties - it is a classic, elegant wine that would easily satisfy at twice the price. Made in the same manner as Champagne, but no where near Champagne pricing."  -  Karl 2/13
